Well, Ford/Lincoln has dropped the ball once again. Instead of making the return of the vaunted "Continental" name something unique and spectacular, they simply stretched a plebian Fusion CD4 FWD platform and wrapped it in overly generic-looking bodywork. Too much of the body design was borrowed from other marques. The grille is Jaguar. The headlights are Acura. The tail end treatment is Audi. And the profile is decidedly Bentley-esque. The most disappointing feature of all, however, is the drivetrain. Instead of a proper RWD/longitudinal engine layout, Ford chose to use a cheaper, less sophisticated FWD layout with a sideways engine. This, sadly, gives the car the unmistakable proportions of an entry-level or below FWD car. The dash-to-axle ratio is painfully short and the front overhang is dismally long compared to other cars in its price range with proper RWD platforms. This is going to be the downfall of Lincoln. FWD does not belong in the premium luxury segment. That's exactly why Cadillac, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Lexus, Infiniti, Audi, hell…even Hyundai and Kia all offer RWD/Rear-Biased AWD and longitudinal engine layouts with V-8 engine options in their premium-priced luxury cars. Lincoln, at this point, can't compete with any of them with what they offer now. It's sad.

Lincoln front grill looks like Kia. Side profile Toyota. Rear profile Dodge.
Headlights from Acura. The interior isn't bad..but the exterior looks
like a hodgepodge of Frankenstein parts. Not worthy of the Continental
badge. And Hyundai's are better built with a better warranty. Ford once
again messes up the Lincoln badge..shame on them.

  3. Bruce Burns says:

Bland as all fuck compared to the concept , but that's Ford for you , they come out with the Ford Evos concept which should of been the new Ford mustang , but no lets just keep on producing a style from yesteryear for ever .

  4. Bruce Burns says:

Why is it that they are cutting the bonnet short and having a ugly join over the radiator , who started this latest fashion , why would you do this and not continue the bonnet to the very front , why ?

lincoln screwed up the front end of the car…they should of made it like the concept, instead of having these wide ass vents below the headlights, like its a Taurus…which of course, is not cool. Makes it look like a MKS, which is the very car thats based off the Taurus and of which I thought Lincoln was trying to get away from

  6. CREATIVEreviews says:

After reading comments I decided to take another look at the Continental. It's a nice color, but I'm not a fan of the showcasing at the show. I've always like gold or champagne colors partnered with black or dark metal. I would have liked the Lincoln platform that the car was on to be a glossy black.

  7. Jeff Puha says:

I think this car is gorgeous, and the color of this example is stunning. I'm really looking forward to the start of production and reading/watching some reviews.

  8. colderbeer says:

Home run….this and the Caddy CT6 are awesome. This Lincoln will be the prettiest car on the road when they start showing up in the fall of 2016.
